DAMASCUS
Old Damascus is surrounded by a wall and towers , in addition
to eight gates , six of which are attributed to ancient
times whilst the other two are Islamic. The Umayyad Mosque
with its three minarets and columns of the temple of Jupiter
the Damascene stand at the heart of the City embracing
several historical and archeological Monuments . Important
Places such as : Salahadin Mousoleum and Damascus Citadel
Which is built in 1078 A.D by the Seljuks rulers , they
surrounded it with walls , towers and built inside it
Houses , baths . In 1202 A.D it was demolished by King
Al Adel Who Rebuilt it once again to reflect the Latest
military architecture. There are many Schools such as
Al Adelieh , Al Jaqmaqieh and Al Zaherieh which are all
situated near north of the Mosque.Azem Palace is situated
to the South , it is Built in the 18 Century as a residence
for the Governer of Damascus , it comprises the Arts and
the Popular Traditions Museum . |

PALMYRA
Palmyra City stands as a symbol for its Arab
Queen " Zenobia" who was an example of the ambitious
woman , she stood against the greatness of Rome .The start
of the city was in shape of Houses spreading around Afqa
Spring during the Neolithic Period , some Canaanite &
Aramean tribes built Bel Temple Meaning the God.

Mari:
The Kingdom of Mari was ruled in the third millennium
B.C , Royal Dynasty, it was great Capital but its wealth
awakened the Babylon's greediness so they seized and destroyed
it. Excavations in Mari unearthed a great palace of 300
rooms , temples , libraries in which thousands of cuneiform
tablets were found , these tablets have clarified a great
portion of Mesopotamia civilization . The Statues , jewelry
, frescos and ornaments engraved in stones found there
can be seen in its statues. |
