| Cannes is an exclusive, sun-drenched town in the south
of France, in a prime location on the French Riviera.
One of the most elitist and expensive areas in Europe,
Cannes is an international symbol of luxury, extravagance
and wealth. The beautiful town is packed full of boutiques,
luxury hotels and celebrity property. The reputation of
Cannes is famously enforced each year with the glamorous
Cannes International Film Festival in May. |

| A trader's dream, its seaside position led to its founding
by Greek sailors in 600 B.C. and prominence in the 19th
century as the principal port of the French empire. When
the city's soldiers marched to the aid of revolutionary
Paris in 1792 they were singing a song (composed elsewhere)
that soon became the French national anthem - La Marseillaise.

| Nice, on the French Riviera, has been a popular coastal,
tourist destination for centuries. The site of an impressive
Roman amphitheatre, this ancient city has been inhabited
for 400,000 years and today it still retains the mediaeval
'vieille ville' (old town), with narrow, windy streets,
bordered by terraced red-tile roofed buildings which today
house boutiques, restaurants and food shops. |
