| On the Gdansk Bay there is the largest Polish harbour
city, a capital of the present Pomerania (Pomorze) region
- the city of Gdansk. Currently, Gdansk is one of three
cities of so called - Tri-city, to which belong also Sopot
and Gdynia. Undoubtedly, Gdansk is the most interesting
city of Tri-city. With one-hundred years of tradition,
mixture of Polish and German influences, cosmopolitan
mixture of whole Europe, Gdansk still attracts artists,
free-minded people, like sailors and tourists of course.
The city called - Danzig is a place of birth of a famous
people like the astronom Jan Hevelke-Hevelius, writer
- Gunter Grass - a Nobel prizewinner, the scientist Gabriel
Fahrenheit and also the legendary leader of "Solidarnosc"
- Lech Walesa. |

| As for the size, Krakow is the fourth town of Poland
but as to its tourist attractiveness it is the first one.
Such opinions are shared among the inhabitants and the
visitors. This magic town attracts crowds of tourists
by its amount of monuments like also unique atmosphere.
All around one of the magnificent Square of Europe stand
a few hundred tenement houses every of which bewitches
its unique look. Krakow means also an inimitable castle
on Wawel with a wonderful cathedral. The former Jewish
part of town - Kazimierz is a district as if it was taken
from the postcards before the World War II. The Mariacki
Church which has stood by the Square since 1222 year is
one of the famous churches in Poland. In the distance
of 15 km from Krakow there is about 700 year old salt
mine in Wieliczka which is listed in the World Cultural
Heritage UNESCO. |

| Zakopane is a sunken in natural greenery place that
is situated at the foot of Tatra Mountains which are often
called a miniature Alps. Tatra Mountains besides they
are small mountains can offer a wonderful nature insignificantly
touch by civilization and protected by National Park and
recognized as world heredity of nature. Zakopane is the
only place in Poland that attracts tourist so much. During
one day, one may take mountain climbing in the afternoon
see one of numerous museums and in the evening sank in
a bustling main street - Krupowki observing the nightlife
of highlanders. Zakopane is a place where one may go in
for different kinds of sport like for example cycling,
hiking, skying, hanggliding and riding on a horse. This
city is a capital of winter sports like also a place of
destination of many trips in the Tatra. In the winter
time, nearby the city there are plenty of ski lifts and
in the summer time there are many kilometers of paths
from walks to mountains routes. Moreover, Zakopane is
a large center of specific highlander's culture and picturesque
wooden architecture. Zakopane should be visited obligatorily
by every tourist who wants to learn something about Poland. |
