| Ram Racings Naturally Aspirated Shootout, US13 Dragway:
Laying Down Record Setting Performances Please Note, Drummond
Race Cars Outlaw Event Summary At The End Of This ArticleRam
Racing’s Naturally Aspirated Shootout entered its
third session of their 2005 series at US13 Dragway in
Delmar, Delaware. It was also a first for us here at gDR
and Ram Racing in a new venue, one of the most spectacular
parts of this trip was the drive down RT13 across the
C & D Canal bridge on the Korean War Memorial Highway
at 2 AM, some of you might like to see this work of art
on your next trip; it's an incredible sight with the lights
on at night. The early morning was spent waiting in a
long line to enter this facility with a perfect day weather
wise for all motor racing. I personally was impressed
at this track, and the size of the crowd looking to enter,
not only for Ram Racing but also the Outlaw Pro Street
"Quick 8", and "Real Street" Sessions
from Drummond Race Cars. If you wanted "Heads Up"
Racing, you found every type of it here. US13 was also
hosting a bracket point’s day and after watching
the quality of the racers I can assure you it was an event
you won't miss again if you couldn't make it. |

Round One US13 Eliminations:
Two time champion of this ongoing series; John Langer
faced off against the underpowered Brian Klecko. Langer
took an easy win light from Klecko 9.02 @ 151 to Klecko's
10.42 @ 130; Larry Rhodes stayed on his game and ousted
a competitive in recent series Jay Schonberger. Rhodes
9.35 @ 148 took advantage of some good hook while Schonberger
15.02 @ 58 overpowered the track with the screaming Regal.
Frank Lupi slept long on the tree against an unknown rival
next to him, Darren Long. Long cut and excellent light
compared to Lupi's .087 to a .312. Lupi had the firebird
wheels up and flying past the Camaro of Long for the win,
8.95 @ 150 to Longs 9.70 @ 140. Oscar Rivera caught the
better light while Jay Beeler would now have to chase
down this extremely fast little stang. Beeler went past
Rivera on the top end by the slimmest of margins 9.25
@ 147 to Rivera's 9.40 @ 144. Bruce Maichle would use
his bye run to try and gain lane choice with another fast
8.72 @ 155 |

Round Two US13 Eliminations:
Frank Lupi found himself in a groove but his lights were
far from what was needed to keep taking out competitors.
Larry Rhodes face Lupi in this session, and again Lupi
had the power to put away Rhodes with a deadly consistent
8.96 @ 150 to Rhodes very fast 9.33 @ 142. Bruce Maichle
suffered yet another defeat in the form of a water leak
after the burnout; there wasn't enough time to get him
back into the beams before they could stop the drip so
Jay Beeler took a lying bye run into the semis with a
9. 23 @ 146, John Langer would push the Firebird only
so far to just get it cleared out for the next round with
his official bye run 9.00 @ 149 to finish this set of
rounds. |

Semi Final US13 Eliminations:
John Langer had slowed in the previous round and possibly
his opponent Jay Beeler could advance with a holeshot
of some sort. Beeler tried hard cutting an .059 light
to Langers .112 but Langer pulled out the Pontiac muscle
and streaked to an intense 8.95 @ 151 for the win over
Beeler's 9.27 @ 144. Frank Lupi offered up a huge wheel
standing single to cross the stripe at a moving 9.07 @
139. |

Final US13 Eliminations:
An all Firebird final was in order for the 10.5 racers,
the pure all Pontiac 69 of John Langer to the Blue Oval
powered 87 of Frank Lupi. Lupi needed to better his reaction
time to make use of his car running just as quick as Langers.
It looked like a battle of the tree would make or break
this one. Lupi again suffered from a slower reaction time
but Langer had more than enough left in him to make sure
Lupi didn't have a chance at it. Lupi falls in this final
9.01 @ 149 to Langers 8.99 @ 151. John Langer now stands
as a three in a row “Ram Racing Champion”
of the Ten Five sessions. |
